The Sultanate of Oman is no stranger to continuous development and improvement as an independent country. In 2010, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) ranked Oman as the most-improved country in the world in terms of development during the preceding four decades. Known for its economic prowess in tourism, maritime trading and other agricultural exports, the World Bank has categorized Oman as a high-income economy, and as of 2023, Oman has been ranked as the 48th most peaceful country in the world, according to the Global Peace Index.

IoT security encompasses cybersecurity measures that are vital for safeguarding interconnected devices and networks. The escalating data flow from external sources, coupled with the expanded IoT landscape, underscores the necessity for robust security protocols to ensure reliable operations.

This year, the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) will focus on ‘Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development,’ highlighting the crucial role of digital innovation in promoting global connectivity and sustainable prosperity.

In line with Oman’s Vision 2040, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information (MTCIT) has developed a digital economy strategy to contribute to the economic diversification priority by enhancing the contribution of the ICT sector to the national economy.
